Connected card terminals (Mercado Pago Point, Clip, Netpay)

Connect your card terminal so the POS sends the amount to the device, waits for the payment and records it with the card and authorization. Refunds to the card and the day's reconciliation.

Updated on October 25, 2026

Until now the cashier keyed the amount in the bank's terminal and then typed the voucher's authorization in Nori. With a connected terminal, Nori sends the amount to the device, waits for the customer to pay and records the payment with the card brand, its last four digits, the authorization and the installments. If you connect nothing, everything stays the same: new terminals are manual.

Nori never sees or stores the full card number.

What you need

Provider What you ask the provider for What you enter in Nori
Mercado Pago Point A Mercado Pago account with an application in Your integrations and the Point Smart terminal Production access token and the webhook secret
Clip PinPad An application at dashboard.developer.clip.mx and the Clip PinPad app on the reader (asked to Clip with the serial number) API key and secret
Netpay Smart PinPad Sign-up and certification with Netpay's integrations team User, password, secret, store and server they give you

1. Connect the account

  1. Go to Administration › Integrations and open the provider's card.
  2. Paste the credentials, press Save and then Test.
  3. Mercado Pago: in Your integrations › Webhooks register the URL Nori shows with the Order (Mercado Pago) event and paste its secret here. It also works without the webhook: Nori asks every two seconds.
  4. Netpay: type the URL Nori shows in each terminal's hidden menu (connection Web › Configure service response).

2. Set up the terminal

  1. Go to Point of sale › Setup › Bank terminals and open the terminal (or create one).
  2. In Payment methods it accepts check the cards it charges.
  3. In the Connection tab choose the Provider.
  4. Press Test connection. Nori lists your account's devices: pick yours and press Save.
  5. If the Mercado Pago terminal shows STANDALONE mode, press Enable integrated mode and restart it.
  6. Optional: in Registers it serves check the registers where it is. None checked: it serves every register of its branch.
  7. Allow typing it by hand if the terminal fails: off (recommended), that card is only charged from Nori.

Only who has the Connect card terminals permission changes the connection. Every change is logged.

3. Charging at the POS

  1. In Charge, choose the card. Nori shows Charge on and the terminal's name.
  2. Press Add payment. Waiting for payment on the terminal… appears with the amount.
  3. The customer pays on the terminal. Once approved you see Payment approved with the card and the authorization, and the sale completes by itself when it is covered.
  4. If the bank declines the card, Nori goes back to the payment with the reason (for example, Insufficient funds). Try another card or another tender.
  5. Cancel charge takes the amount off the terminal while the customer has not paid.

You can combine tenders: part by card and the rest in cash.

If the terminal does not answer

If the internet drops or the terminal does not answer, you see No answer from the terminal. Press Check again: Nori asks the provider before letting you charge again. It never sends a second charge for the same cart while the first one is in the air, and never completes a sale without an approved payment.

If you reload the screen with a charge in progress, Nori picks it up when you open Charge again.

Refunds and cancellations

  • In Return, the refund tender already suggests the card that paid. Nori refunds that same card through the provider, all of it or part, and shows it at the end (Refunded to card).
  • If the sale was paid by card and cash, the card part goes back to the card and the rest in cash.
  • If the provider does not accept the refund, the return is not recorded: the goods do not go back to stock and no money leaves the register. You never end up with a half-done return. Check the reason or refund in cash.
  • Cancelling the whole payment refunds the card whatever was not refunded yet.
  • Netpay only cancels by API the same day, for the whole amount and before 20:00. Otherwise, ask Netpay for the refund or refund in cash.

The day's reconciliation

In Payments and banking › Card terminals reconciliation choose the day and the terminal. Nori compares what the provider says with what it recorded and flags:

  • Charged, no sale: the customer paid on the terminal but no sale used that payment. Refund it or record it.
  • Sale, not charged: a sale has a charge the provider does not show as paid.
  • Different amount: the provider has another amount or a refund Nori does not know (made from its dashboard, for example).
  • Typed by hand: a payment of that terminal typed because the device failed.
  • No answer: a charge still waiting.

Solve what is flagged before settling the vouchers in Deposits.

Testing

In the demo company terminals are simulated: they approve after three seconds, decline amounts ending in .13 and cancel those ending in .66. A real provider is never called.
