Accounting

Turn accounting on, choose your chart of accounts, set up G/L account determination and posting periods, and enter manual journal entries and vouchers.

Updated on October 24, 2026

Nori keeps your books the way SAP Business One does. If you have an ERP connected, your ERP keeps the books and you don't need to do anything here.

Turn it on

  1. Go to Administration › Accounting (or the Accounting step of "Set up your company").
  2. Choose the chart of accounts: Mexico, aligned with the SAT grouping code, or International.
  3. Enter the month your fiscal year starts and the month you start keeping the books in Nori.
  4. Click Turn on. Your chart, your periods and the default accounts are ready.

If you turn it off later, your data is kept.

Chart of accounts

  • Title accounts group and add up their subaccounts. Active accounts are the ones that take postings.
  • Each account has a type, a nature (debit or credit) and, in Mexico, its grouping code for electronic accounting.
  • Control accounts (customers, suppliers, down payments) always carry the business partner.
  • You can export the chart to CSV, edit it in Excel and import it back. Accounts are matched by code.
  • Accounts are never deleted: they are deactivated.

G/L account determination

It says which account each concept posts to: sales, customers, cost of goods sold, inventory, VAT, cash… It has SAP's tabs (Sales, Purchasing, Inventory) plus Taxes, Payments and General.

You can change the account by warehouse, item group, partner group, payment form or tax code. Anything left empty takes the default account.

VAT on a cash basis

On a credit invoice, VAT stays as output VAT not collected and moves to collected when the payment arrives. On purchases, input VAT pending payment moves to paid when you pay the supplier.

Posting periods

Each month is a period:

  • Open: everything posts.
  • Open except sales: everything but sales and incoming payments.
  • Locked except sales: only sales and incoming payments, so the POS keeps selling while you close the month.
  • Closing: only the adjustments of whoever manages periods.
  • Closed: nothing.

Manual journal entries

In Accounting › Journal entries › New journal entry, enter the lines with their debit or credit. Nori won't post until debits and credits balance. You can attach files to the entry.

A posted entry is never edited: you reverse it, and Nori posts an entry with the same lines on the other side.

Journal vouchers

Group several entries in a voucher to review them first. When you post the voucher, all of them post or none does: if one has a problem (a closed period, for instance), nothing posts and Nori tells you which one.

Cost centers

Up to five dimensions, each with its own cost centers. Each line of an entry can carry one per dimension.
