How to import the bank statement
Upload the file you download from online banking (CSV, OFX or CAMT.053), set up your bank's CSV columns once and review the imported lines.

To reconcile, Nori needs what the bank says. You bring it in by importing the statement file you download from online banking. You need accounting on and the bank account set up with its G/L account (see How to set up your bank accounts).
Which file to download
- OFX or CAMT.053 (XML): if your bank offers them, use them. Nori reads them with no setup.
- CSV: every bank lays out its columns differently, so the first time you tell Nori where each field is.
Set up your bank's CSV format
- Go to Payments and banking › Banks › Bank accounts and click Statement formats.
- If your bank is BBVA, Santander, Banorte, Banamex or HSBC, click Add samples (BBVA, Santander, Banorte, Banamex, HSBC). The samples show the Adjust badge.
- Open your bank's sample (or click New format) and compare it with one of your files:
- Delimiter (comma, semicolon or tab), Encoding and the Header rows to skip.
- Date format:
d/m/Yfor 31/01/2026,Y-m-dfor 2026-01-31. - Numbers: whether the decimal mark is a point or a comma.
- Columns: the column number of each field, starting at 1. Use Signed amount if the bank has a single column, or Debit (withdrawal) and Credit (deposit) if it has two.
- Save. The format no longer says Adjust.
- On the bank account, choose that format in Statement format (CSV).
Why: a bank may export differently depending on the account type or the version of its online banking. That's why Nori asks you to check the sample against a real file before using it.
Import
- Open the account in Payments and banking › Banks › Bank accounts.
- Under Bank statements choose the File (up to 5 MB). If it is a CSV, check the format.
- Click Import.
Nori tells you how many lines came in and how many it skipped. It skips lines already imported and lines before the account's opening balance date, so importing the same period twice, or overlapping periods, duplicates nothing.
Review what was imported
The account lists each import with its period, number of lines and who uploaded it. Opening one shows each line's date, description, reference, amount and balance, and which ones are already reconciled. Original file downloads the file as you uploaded it.
Delete import removes that statement and its lines. If any is already reconciled, undo that reconciliation first.
If you don't see…
- "Choose the format of this bank's CSV.": the account has no CSV format. Choose it on the account or in the import field.
- "The file has no movements that can be read": the columns, delimiter or date format don't match your file. Open the CSV in a text editor and compare.
- Missing lines: they are before the opening balance date, or were already imported.
- The reconciliation report balance doesn't match the bank: a line is missing. The report warns you when the statement's last balance isn't the one Nori works out.
- Statement formats in the accounts list: it only shows with accounting on.
