How to connect your company's Anthropic account

The assistant uses your company's Anthropic API key. Create the key in the Anthropic Console, paste it in Nori, set a monthly budget and check how much is used.

On this page

Nori's assistant runs on Anthropic's Claude models, with an Anthropic account in your company's name. Anthropic bills you directly for what you use and Nori adds nothing on top. Nori helps you control the spend with a monthly budget and a usage screen.

1. Create the key at Anthropic

  1. Go to the Anthropic Console, platform.claude.com (formerly console.anthropic.com), and create your company's account if you don't have one.
  2. In Billing, add a payment method or buy credit. You can also set a spend limit there, on Anthropic's side.
  3. In API keys, create a new key. Give it a name you'll recognize, such as "Nori".
  4. Copy the key. It starts with sk-ant- and Anthropic only shows it once.

2. Paste it in Nori

You need the Configure the assistant permission.

  1. Go to Administration › Integrations › Assistant settings.
  2. In the Anthropic account card, paste the key under API key.
  3. Click Test connection. Nori makes a minimal request to Anthropic and only saves the key if it answers.

Nori stores the key encrypted and afterwards only shows its start and end (sk-ant-…Q7rT) with the date it was tested. To change it, paste a new one and test it; Disconnect turns the assistant off until you connect another.

If the test says the account has no credit, add funds under Anthropic's Billing and test again.

3. Set a monthly budget

On the same screen, under Monthly budget:

  • Budget (US$ per month): the estimated cost you don't want to go over. 0 means no budget.
  • Nori notifies administrators at 80 % and 100 %.
  • Stop the assistant at 100 % (until next month): if checked, the assistant stops answering until next month or until you raise the budget. Otherwise it only notifies.

You can also set a Company daily limit (tokens) and a Per-user daily limit (tokens), so one person can't use it all. 0 means no separate limit.

4. Check usage

In Administration › Integrations › Assistant usage you see each month's usage and cost:

  • The selected month's cost against the previous month and your budget.
  • By user, By feature or specialist and By model.
  • Cost per day (US$).
  • If you have a dollar exchange rate on file, the cost in your currency too.

Export CSV downloads the detail by day, user, feature and model.

Amounts are Nori's estimate from the tokens Anthropic reports on each call and its list prices. The official invoice is in the Anthropic Console.

Models and effort

In Assistant settings, the Models section comes set to Recommended, which balances quality, cost and speed. Each option shows its list price per million tokens. Effort changes how careful answers are: more effort is slower and uses more tokens. Unless you have a reason to change them, leave them as they are.

The demo

In Nori's demo company the assistant uses a key with a usage cap and doesn't run actions. To use it with your data, connect your company's account.

If you don't see…

  • Assistant settings or Assistant usage in the menu: your role lacks the Configure the assistant permission.
  • "The assistant API key isn't valid or lacks permission": the key was revoked or copied incomplete. Create another one in the Anthropic Console and paste it.
  • "The company reached its monthly AI budget": raise the budget or wait until next month.
  • Costs that differ from Anthropic's invoice: Nori estimates with list prices; the figure that counts is the one in the Anthropic Console.
  • The cost in your currency: record the dollar exchange rate in Administration › Catalogs › Exchange rates.
