Print stations and the print agent

Install the agent on the register or warehouse computer so tickets, invoices and labels go straight to the right printer, with no browser print dialog.

Updated on October 24, 2026

Without the agent, Nori prints through the browser dialog. That works, but with a line at the register nobody wants to pick a printer for every ticket. The agent is a small program you install on each computer that prints. It sends each job to the right printer.

Each station can have up to three printers:

  • Receipts: the 58 or 80 mm receipt printer. Tickets, delivery notes, order slips and register close reports print here.
  • Documents: the laser or inkjet printer for letter-size paper (invoices, quotations, statements).
  • Labels, if you have a label printer.

If the ticket printer has a cash drawer, the agent also opens it after each cash sale.

1. Create the station in Nori

  1. Sign in as an administrator, go to Administration › Print stations and click New station.
  2. Give it a name the branch staff will recognize, like "Register 1" or "Warehouse counter". If it's a register, choose its POS terminal.
  3. When you save, an 8-letter code appears. It's valid for 30 minutes and works only once, so have the computer you're installing on ready.

2. Install the agent

On the station's computer, download the agent from the same screen (Install the agent) and unzip the file.

  • Windows: double-click install.cmd. It doesn't need administrator rights and starts automatically with Windows. If you see "Windows protected your PC", choose More info › Run anyway.
  • macOS (Apple Silicon): run ./install-macos.sh.
  • Linux: run ./install-linux.sh. It requires CUPS.

3. Pair it

  1. A local page opens at http://127.0.0.1:17771/. Enter your Nori address (for example https://yourcompany.nori.software) and the code, then click Pair.
  2. Click Use in this browser. If Chrome or Edge asks whether Nori can access devices on the local network, choose Allow.
  3. Go back to Print stations. The station shows Online with the printers it found. Assign the ticket, document and label printers, check Open the cash drawer on cash sales if you need it, and save.
  4. Click Test next to each printer. A test page should print.

From then on, the Print button on documents, payments, register closes and labels prints directly, and so does the POS ticket.

Which printer each layout goes to

Each print layout sets which printer it goes to. Change it in Administration › Print layouts, under Settings › Station printer. By default, roll layouts go to the ticket printer and page layouts go to the document printer.

If something doesn't print

  • In Print stations, check that the station shows Online. If it shows Offline, the computer is off or the agent isn't running.
  • The agent runs under the Windows user who installed it. If several people sign in to that computer, install it under each user and create a station for each one.
  • To update, unzip the new version and run the installer again. The pairing stays in place.
