How to create a customer or vendor and set their credit
Enter a business partner with its contacts, addresses and tax data, give it a price list and payment terms, and decide how much credit it gets.

Customers, vendors and leads are business partners, as in SAP Business One. You create them in Business partners › Customers and vendors.
Create a partner
- Go to Business partners › Customers and vendors and click New.
- Under General, enter:
- Code and Type: customer, supplier or lead. A lead becomes a customer by changing its type.
- Name: the legal name as it appears on its tax registration. If you know it by another name, put it in Trade name.
- Partner group, email and phone numbers.
- Under Contacts, add who to call, who to email or who receives goods. Mark one as default.
- Under Addresses, add the Billing address and the shipping ones. The default of each type is the one its documents use.
- Under Tax data (Mexican companies), enter the RFC, the Tax regime and the CFDI use. For vendors, also how they're reported in the DIOT.
- Save.
A One-time partner is for the walk-in customer who asks for an invoice: they buy cash only and their documents are grouped under the customer they belong to (Belongs to).
If you have an ERP connected, partners come from the ERP and are read-only in Nori. See Connect Nori to your ERP.
Prices and terms
Under Payment & credit, Commercial terms block:
- Price list used to sell to them and Currency they're invoiced in.
- Discount: applied as a header discount on their documents.
- Sales rep who handles them.
Credit
Under Payment & credit, Credit and collections block:
- Payment terms: the credit days their documents are due in. Terms with 0 days are cash. Payment terms are created in Business partners › Setup › Payment terms.
- Credit limit: zero means cash only. Available credit is the limit minus what they owe on open documents.
- Requires purchase order: Nori won't save their sales documents without the customer's purchase order number.
- Related partner: the vendor that is this same customer, to offset their balances in internal reconciliation.
On the same tab, Account status shows their Balance, their Available credit (or "Cash only") and the aging of what they owe. Account statement creates the customer's page with their open documents, the PDF and XML and a pay button, so you can send it.
What happens when you sell on credit
When you save a sales order, delivery or invoice with credit payment terms, Nori checks:
- That the total fits in their available credit.
- That they have no unpaid overdue invoices.
If either fails, a supervisor must approve it (the Credit exceeded authorization type). With overdue documents it always asks, even if the credit is enough. The approval stays on the document: copying it to the next one doesn't ask again unless the total grows. See Authorizations and supervisor PIN.
By default the balance counts only invoices, debit memos and down payments, minus credit memos and payments on account. If you also want open orders and deliveries to count, turn it on in Administration › Parameters › Sales: Include the balance of open sales orders in the credit limit and Include the balance of open deliveries in the credit limit.
Why: in SAP Business One the credit check uses "Consider orders / deliveries balance" and either blocks or just warns. In Nori, instead of blocking, it asks for a supervisor's approval, which they can give with their PIN at the register or from their phone.
Deactivate a partner
Uncheck Active. An inactive partner can't be used on new documents and keeps its history.
If you don't see…
- The New button: your role can't create partners, or your ERP owns the partners.
- Tax regime, CFDI use or DIOT: they only appear for companies with the Mexican localization. In other countries, Tax data has your country's tax ID (RUC, NIT…).
- The approval request when selling on credit: check that the payment terms have credit days and that Credit exceeded is on in Users and security › Authorizations › Authorization types.
- The "Over credit limit" badge: it shows at the top of the partner when what they owe exceeds their limit.
