How to produce: order, issue and receipt from production
Create the production order from the recipe, release it, issue the components with their batches and receive the finished product with its batch and expiry.

A production order says which product you will make, how much and by when. It goes through three statuses: Planned, Released and Closed (or Cancelled). Issues and receipts are always made from the order.
Create the order
- Go to Production › Production orders and click New order. You can also start from the bill of materials with New order.
- Choose the type:
- Standard: copies the lines of the bill of materials and scales them to the planned quantity.
- Special: you enter the lines by hand, for a product without a recipe or a different run.
- Disassembly: the other way around; the product goes out and its components come back.
- Choose the product, the planned quantity and the warehouse. Enter the order date, start date and due date. If the order is for a customer, enter the customer's sales order. Priority sorts the work: lower number, more urgent.
- Review the components: you can change quantities, warehouses and issue method while the order is planned.
- Click Save as planned or Save and release.
Why: as in SAP, the order copies the recipe when created. If you change the bill of materials later, orders already created don't change.
Release
On the planned order, click Release. Releasing:
- Fixes the order's unit cost (the standard cost the product will come in at).
- Reserves stock: components become committed and the product becomes ordered.
- Locks the lines.
Only a released order issues, receives and closes.
Issue the components
- On the released order, click Issue.
- Each component defaults to what is pending. Change Quantity to issue if you issue part of it.
- In Batch, Nori suggests the first to expire. You can choose another batch; an expired one is flagged.
- For resources, enter the hours.
- Click Issue. The issue is a document with its own number, its stock exit at average cost and, with accounting on, its journal entry.
Components with Backflush issue are not issued here: they go out on their own when you receive.
Receive the finished product
- On the order, click Receive.
- Enter the good quantity and, if any, the Rejected quantity with its reason. Rejected goods don't go into the warehouse and their cost stays in the order.
- If the product is batch-managed, Nori suggests the Batch number and works out the Expiry from the item's shelf life; if the item has no shelf life, enter it. If it uses serial numbers, enter one per piece.
- If the recipe has by-products, enter what came out under by-products.
- Click Receive.
Before saving the receipt, Nori backflushes the components that use it: what the recipe asks for the good plus the rejected quantity, never more than what is pending.
You can receive in parts: each receipt creates its batch. The order shows what was produced, rejected, the yield and the batches produced.
The order record
- Per component: planned, issued and pending, and the actual vs standard consumption.
- Work in process: what was issued minus what was received.
- Issues and receipts: each document with its number. In More actions you open the relationship map (order, issues, receipts and sales order) or print the order.
Cancel
- A Planned order is cancelled with Cancel order, and its reservations are released.
- A Released order can only be cancelled if it has no active issues or receipts. If it does, close it or cancel those issues and receipts first.
- An issue or receipt can be cancelled while the order is released. A receipt can't be cancelled if part of what came in has already gone out.
When you finish producing, close the order: see How to close a production order.
If you don't see…
- Issue or Receive: the order isn't released. Click Release.
- "The ERP keeps the stock": your connected ERP keeps inventory. Record issues, receipts and closings in the ERP; in Nori you plan with bills of materials, orders and MRP.
- A Standard order says there is no bill of materials: create the product's bill of materials or use a Special order.
- It won't let you issue more than you have: your company doesn't allow issues without stock. Record the component's receipt first.
- Permission: you need the Production, Supervisor or Administrator role.
