How to choose your company's localization

The localization sets your tax ID, your currency, your taxes and the country's legal modules. It is chosen when the company is created and locks with the first transaction.

On this page

Every company in Nori works with a localization, as in SAP Business One. It decides what your tax ID is called, your local currency, the taxes you start with and which legal modules you see.

Available localizations

Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic and International (the United States and any other country).

What the localization changes

What it sets
Tax ID Its name and how it is validated: RFC in Mexico, NIT in Colombia and Guatemala, RUC in Peru and Ecuador, RUT in Chile, CUIT in Argentina, RNC in the Dominican Republic, Cédula jurídica in Costa Rica and Tax ID in International. The name changes everywhere: business partners, POS, Excel import, print layouts and reports.
Currency The local currency and its decimals. The Chilean peso, for example, has no decimals.
Taxes The tax codes you start with: in Mexico VAT 16 %, 8 % (border), 0 %, exempt and with withholdings; in Peru IGV 18 %; in Panama ITBMS 7 %, and so on. International starts with no taxes.
Address Whether it says State, Department, Region or Province, and whether the postal code is required (Mexico only).
Chart of accounts The one proposed when you turn accounting on: the Mexican one with the SAT grouping code, or the international one.
Legal modules CFDI invoicing, the SAT bulk download, electronic accounting, the DIOT and payroll with IMSS and ISR only appear in Mexico. Outside Mexico those menus are not shown.
Document names In Peru and Chile the POS receipt is called Boleta.

Human resources (employees, positions, incidents, vacations) and general accounting are available in every localization.

When it is chosen

  1. When your company is created, Nori proposes the localization of the billing country.
  2. If your company doesn't have one yet, the Company details step of Set up your company asks for it under Company's localization.

Once chosen, you see it in Administration › Company › Company details, read only.

The lock

The localization locks as soon as the company records its first transaction: a document (other than a draft), a payment, a journal entry or a stamped or cancelled CFDI. After that it cannot change.

Before the first transaction only the Nori team can change it. If you picked the wrong one, write to us before your first sale. Changing it adds the currency and taxes of the new localization and deactivates those of the old one.

Why: as in SAP, everything you record depends on the localization: your taxes, your series and your books. Changing it after transactions would leave documents under another country's rules.

Address country and localization

The Country in Company details is your address country and the one Nori bills you in. It doesn't change the localization.

If you don't see…

  • The electronic invoicing, SAT or payroll menus: your company doesn't have the Mexico localization. Check which one it has in Company details.
  • Your tax ID with the right name: the field is named after the localization. If it says RFC and your company is in another country, write to us before recording transactions.
  • How to change it: once there are transactions it can't be changed from Nori. Write to us and we'll look at your case.
