Discounts and promotions
Where each line's price comes from, how to create a promotion with a schedule and conditions, and how to test it before your cashiers use it.

You'll find everything in Inventory › Discounts and promotions, under three tabs: Promotions, Item discounts and Discount groups.
How a price is calculated
Nori always follows the same order in documents, the point of sale and the mobile app:
- The customer's list price (or the user's, if you set it up that way). A list can take its prices from another list multiplied by a factor.
- Item discount: Nori checks discount groups, quantity discounts, date-range discounts and the general discount, in the order you set. The first one that returns a discount wins. A fixed special price replaces the list price.
- Promotions, by priority.
- Caps: each promotion's cap and the overall cap for automatic discounts.
Nori never recalculates a price or discount typed by hand.
To see why a line has a certain price, hover over its discount indicator in the document or the POS. Why this price shows each step: the price list, the discount and its source, and the promotion that applied.
Create a promotion
- On the Promotions tab, press New promotion.
- General: name and type. The types are percentage off, fixed price, amount off per unit, buy N get M, a bundle of units at one price, tiers by volume, weight or amount, and price list change.
- Who and what it covers: turn on only the conditions you need. You can limit by price list, business partner, partner group, items, item groups, manufacturer, warehouse, branch, user, series, channel or payment method. Each condition joins the previous one with "and" or "or". With no conditions, the promotion applies to every sales line.
- When: validity dates, days of the week and time of day. The time range can cross midnight. Under Where it applies, choose documents, point of sale or mobile app.
- Minimums, stacking and cap: minimum quantity or amount, what happens if the line already has a discount, and a percentage cap.
- Save.
The combination setting decides how the promotion interacts with the item discount: Replace the item discount, Only if better than the item discount, or Stack (compound) and let later ones apply.
To have a supervisor approve when the promotion goes over the user's discount limit, check Require authorization above the user's discount limit.
Discount by weight
Use it to give a percentage based on the kilograms of the whole sale, like the "discount by weight" in Nori desktop:
- Enter the Weight (kg per unit) on each item sold by weight. If you come from Nori desktop, the migration brings it.
- Create a promotion of type Weight tiers and check Cumulative, so it measures the kilograms of all the lines together.
- In the tiers, set from how many kg and the percentage each one gives (for example, 3% from 500 kg and 5% from 1,000 kg).
- To leave it open, keep Who and what it covers without conditions; if it only applies to an item group or to some customers, turn that on there.
The percentage of the tier reached goes on every line that has a weight. Lines of items without a weight don't get that discount and keep their own. Nori desktop's weight (K) rules are migrated this way.
Item discounts and groups
- Item discounts: a percentage or special price for one item, optionally for one business partner or price list, from a minimum quantity and within a date range. A partner-specific discount beats the general one.
- Discount groups: a percentage by item, item group, manufacturer or property, for everyone, a partner group or a single partner. They also handle "buy N, get M free", applied as a percentage on the line.
Order and test
Order sets which item discount sources Nori checks first and the priority of promotions. Drag them or use the arrows. The Maximum automatic discount % is also there.
The Simulator runs the calculation without creating documents. Choose the business partner, items, quantities, date and time, and where it's sold, and you see the net price and the rules that applied. It only uses saved rules, so save the promotion before you simulate it.
Reapply on a document
If you changed rules after entering a sales order or a quotation, open the document and use Apply special discounts. After you confirm, it recalculates every line with the current rules, even lines that had a price or discount typed by hand.
With an ERP
If you connected your ERP, its special prices, tiers, discount groups and derived price lists sync to Nori automatically. They show ERP as the source and are read-only, so you change them in the ERP. Nori's promotions work alongside them in the order you set.
