Receive goods with a scanner against the purchase order
Scan incoming goods against one or more purchase orders. Nori rejects items that weren't ordered and asks for approval when more arrives than ordered.
Updated on October 24, 2026
Open Purchasing › Receiving by scanner. Anyone who can create goods receipts can use it.
Open the orders you're receiving
- Type the purchase order folio or the supplier's name.
- Choose the order. If the delivery covers several orders, check the ones arriving and press Receive the selected ones, or add another later with Add another order from this supplier. You can only combine orders from the same supplier in the same currency.
- If that dock only receives for one warehouse, choose Receive into one warehouse only.
Scan
All lines start at zero. Scan each item: you can use the item code, the barcode, 3*code for several units, or a scale label. Each scan goes to the first line that still needs that item.
- If the item isn't on the order, Nori rejects it with "The item does not belong to the purchase order".
- For items sold by weight, read the weight from the scale or type it, then subtract the container tare.
- Non-stock lines (freight, services) are received with the rest of the receipt without scanning.
Each line shows the order cost and the Last cost, so you can spot a supplier price increase right away.
Batches, expiration dates and serials
If an item Needs a batch or Needs serials, the line opens a dialog: scan the batch or serial, type the expiration date and choose the bin location. See Batches, serial numbers and bin locations.
What requires approval
- Receiving more than ordered: always for items counted by the unit; for weighed items, only above the percentage your company sets. The extra quantity goes on a separate line at the order price.
- Typing a quantity by hand instead of scanning.
A supervisor approves remotely or on the same device with their PIN (see Authorizations and supervisor PIN).
Receive
- In Supplier invoice or ref., type the number on the supplier's delivery note or invoice.
- For a printed receipt, leave Print when receiving checked.
- If the supplier won't send the missing items, check Close the orders, dropping the rest.
- Press Receive what was scanned (or Receive everything if the full order arrived).
Nori posts a goods receipt based on the orders. It adds the stock, updates the last purchase price and closes each order once nothing is pending. If only part arrived, the order stays open for the rest, and you receive it another day on the same screen.
If you connected your ERP, Nori sends the receipt like any other posted document.
