Receive Shopify orders

Connect your Shopify store so every paid order comes into Nori as a sales order, with its home delivery, its notes and its payment on account.

Updated November 6, 2026

On this page

With Shopify connected, every paid order of your store comes into Nori by itself:

  • As a sales order, with the products matched by SKU.
  • With its home delivery to the address the customer entered, with the day and time window if they chose them.
  • With what the customer paid as a payment on account, applied when you deliver or invoice.

1. Create the app in Shopify

Whoever runs the store does this once.

  1. In the Shopify admin go to Settings › Apps and sales channels › Develop apps and create an app. Name it something like "Nori".
  2. In the Admin API scopes check only read_orders and read_products. Nori only reads: it changes nothing in your store.
  3. Install the app.
  4. Copy the Admin API access token. It starts with shpat_ and Shopify shows it only once.
  5. Copy the app's API secret key too. Nori uses it to check that each notice comes from your store.

2. Connect the store in Nori

  1. Go to Administration › Integrations › Integrations center and open Shopify.
  2. Under Store connection enter:
    • Store domain: the one ending in .myshopify.com, not your own domain.
    • Admin API access token: the shpat_… one.
    • App secret key.
    • API version: leave it empty to use the one Nori is tested with.
  3. Check Enabled and save.
  4. Press Test connection. It should show your store's name and currency.
  5. In the Order notices box press Subscribe notices. Shopify then tells Nori about every new, paid, edited or cancelled order.

If a notice is missed, Nori checks the store every 15 minutes. It starts from the moment you turn the integration on: earlier orders are not brought in.

3. Set how orders come in

When Shopify is turned on, Nori fills in what is missing: your warehouse, your user as Recording user, the web shipping item (ENVIO-WEB) and the Shopify (online) payment method. Review the Store orders section:

  • Order series, Warehouse and Sales employee. Without a sales employee, the customer's is used.
  • Shipping item: a service. The order's shipping charge comes in as a line of this item.
  • Payment method: what the customer paid is recorded with it when the gateway is not in the list below.
  • Tender by how the customer paid: type the gateway as Shopify names it (shopify_payments, Mercado Pago, PayPal, manual…) and pick the Nori tender for it. Each imported payment says in its note how the customer paid.
  • New customer prefix: customers coming from the store get this prefix in their code, for example WEB-.
  • Fields with the delivery date and Fields with the delivery time: one per line, as your store or its delivery app names them. A few common ones come filled in (Delivery-Date, Fecha de entrega, Horario…). Case, spaces and dashes are ignored. Times are read as ranges like 10:00 - 14:00 or 10 AM - 2 PM.
  • Lines that are not products: one per line, with the exact title as it shows in the order (for example Tip). They do not go to the sales order.

What happens with each order

When it comes in

An order comes in when Shopify marks it paid or partially paid. Those waiting for payment (bank transfer, cash on delivery) stay Waiting for payment until they are paid.

The customer

Nori looks for the customer who already came from the store; if none, for one with the same email. If there is none, it creates the customer with their name, email and phone. An order without email or phone goes to the company's counter customer.

The products

The SKU of each variant in Shopify must be the item code in Nori. Nori never creates items: if a SKU does not exist, the order is held until you create the item or fix the SKU in Shopify.

The price is the store's. The order's discount becomes the document's general discount, so the total matches Shopify to the cent. If an item's tax is not the same in Nori and in Shopify, or the total does not match, the order is held.

Notes and delivery

  • What the customer wrote on each product (for example a card message) goes in the line note, as name: value.
  • The order note, who sends, who receives and the other details the customer filled in go in the order notes.
  • The shipping address is added to the customer, with the recipient as contact, and the order gets a home delivery on that day and window. You schedule it in Home deliveries.

The payment

What the store collected becomes a payment on account of the customer with the matching tender. It is applied only when you deliver or invoice the order in Nori. If the order was partially paid, only what was paid is recorded and you collect the rest in Nori.

Cancellations

  • If it is cancelled in Shopify and you have not touched it in Nori, Nori cancels the sales order and its payment.
  • If you already delivered or invoiced it, it is held as Cancelled after delivery for you to decide.

Images

If an item has no images in Nori, the Shopify product's images are brought in. They are not duplicated.

The order list and held orders

On the Shopify page press See orders. Shopify orders shows each store order, its customer, total, the document created in Nori, the delivery and the status. Held shows only those that stopped and why:

Reason What to do
SKU without item Create the item with that code or fix the SKU in Shopify
No shipping item Choose the Shipping item
Different tax Match the item's tax in Nori with Shopify's
Different total Check prices, discounts and lines that are not products
Nori rule Fix what the detail says, for example a closed period

Held orders are retried by themselves for a week. You can also press Retry on one, or Sync now to check the store right away. While an order is held, nothing of it is saved.

Permissions

Setting up Shopify and seeing its orders requires the permission to manage integrations.
