How to create fiscal year 2027

Open the next fiscal year with its twelve periods before the current one ends, so sales and the point of sale keep posting on January 1.

Each fiscal year has twelve monthly periods. Nori doesn't create the next one by itself: you create it, a few days ahead.

Why it matters: without an open period for the date, sales, the point of sale and documents don't post. If the fiscal year doesn't exist on January 1, cashiers can't save their tickets.

Create the fiscal year

  1. Go to Accounting › Setup › Posting periods.
  2. Click Create fiscal year. From 60 days before the current year ends, Nori shows the notice "Create fiscal year 2027 to keep posting after…" at the top with the same button.
  3. Check the year in Fiscal year starting in January of (Nori suggests the one after the last).
  4. Click Create fiscal year 2027 and confirm.

Nori creates twelve monthly periods, all Open. Period 13 (closing adjustments) becomes available when you close the fiscal year.

Why: in SAP posting periods are created from the system initialization. In Nori the starting month is the one you chose when you turned accounting on, so you only choose the year.

After creating it

If something doesn't add up

  • You don't see Create fiscal year: your role lacks Open, lock and close posting periods.
  • "Fiscal year 2027 already exists": it's already there; pick it in Fiscal year to see it.
  • "That fiscal year overlaps another one": the year you typed collides with an existing one. Keep the one Nori suggests.
  • "There is no posting period for…" when saving a document: the fiscal year of that date is missing. Create it as shown above.
