How to set up document series
Create a series per document type with its prefix and numbers, choose the default one, tie it to a branch or warehouse and limit who uses it.

Every document in Nori (quotation, order, delivery, invoice, payment…) takes its number from a series. A document type can have several series, for example one per branch.
If you chose No ERP in Set up your company, Nori already created a series for each document type. Here you adjust them or add more.
Create a series
- Go to Administration › Company › Document series and click New.
- Choose the Document type and enter a Code and a Name. The code is unique within the type.
- Under Numbering enter the Prefix (for example
INV-), the Suffix if you use one, the First number and the Next number. The Last number is optional: when the series reaches it, Nori stops using it and tells you. The Next number preview shows what the next document's number will look like. - Check Default if new documents of that type should start with this series. Only one per type.
- Save.
To stop using a series, clear Active. Its documents are kept.
Series by branch and warehouse
- Branch: the series' documents belong to that branch.
- Warehouse: the series identifies the branch. Its documents and all their lines use that warehouse. The warehouse must belong to the same branch.
When a user picks a working warehouse at sign-in, Nori offers the series of that warehouse and those of its branch that name no warehouse. An administrator sees all of them.
Invoicing
In the series' Invoicing section:
- Issues CFDI (Mexico only): documents of the series are stamped with the SAT. Use it on invoices, credit memos, down payments and payments.
- Invoice deliveries automatically: credit deliveries of this series are invoiced on their own with the Invoice series you choose.
- Delivered at the warehouse: its invoices show up in Goods delivery to be picked and handed over at the warehouse.
- Default for cancellations (only with an ERP connected): the series cancellation documents take when something is cancelled in the ERP.
If you don't have invoicing series yet, the Invoicing step of Set up your company creates them with Create invoicing series.
Who can use each series
Under Access, Users who can use it limits the series to certain people. Someone with assigned series uses only those; someone with none assigned can use all of them. Administrators can always use all of them.
Why: in SAP, series are limited by user group or branch. In Nori you assign users right on the series, or tie it to a warehouse.
If you don't see…
- "There are no active series for…" when creating a document: that type has no active series you can use. Create one or reactivate the one you had.
- "You aren't allowed to use series…": the series has assigned users and you are not one of them. Add yourself under Users who can use it.
- "Series … has reached its last number": raise the Last number or create a new series.
- The New or Save button: creating and changing series belongs to the Administrator license.
- A skipped number: if the series already has documents with higher numbers (imported ones, for example), Nori takes the next free number instead of repeating one.
