How to use recurring postings
Enter the rent, fees or an amortization entry once and Nori posts it every month, week or every N days, or leaves it as a draft for someone to confirm.

A recurring posting is an entry template with its frequency. On each date Nori posts it as if you had entered it, or leaves it as a draft for you to review.
Why: it is SAP Business One's Recurring Postings. Rent on the 3rd or month-end amortization no longer depend on someone remembering.
Create a recurring posting
- Go to Accounting › Recurring postings and click New recurring posting.
- Enter the Name. The Entry remarks are the text of each entry; if empty, the name is used.
- Choose the Frequency:
| Frequency | When it is generated |
|---|---|
| Monthly | Every month, on the Day of the month |
| Quarterly | Every three months from the start month, on the Day of the month |
| Yearly | Every year in the start month, on the Day of the month |
| Weekly | Every week, on the Day of the week |
| Every N days | Every so many days from the start date |
If the day doesn't exist in a month, its last day is used: the 31st falls on the 28th or 29th in February and on the 30th in April. 4. In From enter the first possible date. To end it, enter Until or Number of times; with both empty it never ends. 5. Keep Post automatically checked, or uncheck it so every date is left as a draft. 6. Enter the lines as in a manual journal entry: account, business partner when the account needs one, debit or credit, cost centers and remarks. It must balance to be saved. 7. Click Save.
When it is generated
Every morning Nori generates the dates already due. If a day was missed, it catches up: up to 12 dates per posting each day. A date is never generated twice.
To skip the wait, open the posting and click Run now: it generates the due dates right away.
The posting shows its Next date and its History: each date with its result and the link to its entry or its batch of drafts.
When it is left as a draft
A date goes to Journal vouchers, in a batch of its own, when:
- the posting doesn't have Post automatically checked, or
- the period of that date doesn't take entries (closed, closing). The history says why.
Either way you get the Recurring posting to confirm notice, with the link to the batch. Review the draft and click Post voucher when the period allows it. Who gets the notice is set in Notices and emails; by default, whoever created the posting and the administrators.
Change or end a posting
- Edit changes the lines and frequency of the dates still to come; what was posted stays.
- Uncheck Active to pause it. When reactivated, it catches up with the due dates.
- Delete only shows while it has generated nothing. After that, deactivate it.
If something doesn't add up
- It won't save: the lines don't balance, an account doesn't take manual entries or a control account has no partner. The message says which.
- "Not generated" in the history: it couldn't even be left as a draft (for example, an account was deactivated). Fix the posting and enter that date by hand.
- You don't see Run now: your role needs Enter manual journal entries and journal vouchers, plus Post journal entries and journal vouchers if the posting posts automatically.
