How to create items and price lists

Create an item with its code, barcodes, units, taxes and SAT keys; price it on each list, and build lists calculated from another one with a factor.

The item holds everything Nori needs to sell it, buy it and count it. Its record is organized like SAP Business One's, in tabs.

Create an item

  1. Go to Inventory › Items and click New.
  2. On General, type the Code (unique) and the Name. Add its Barcodes: scan them one after another; the first one is the default.
  3. Choose the Item group and the Inventory unit, the unit stock is kept in.
  4. If you sell or buy it in another presentation, choose a Unit group (for example, 1 Box = 12 Piece). Each barcode can belong to a different unit.
  5. Check the behavior: Inventory item, Sales item, Purchase item, Taxable and Sold by weight. A service is not an inventory item.
  6. On Sales and Purchasing, choose the sales or purchasing unit, its quantity per unit and the tax on each side. On Purchasing you can set a Preferred supplier and a Minimum order.
  7. In Mexico, on Mexico (SAT), type the SAT product code (8 digits) and the SAT unit code (for example H87 or KGM). If you leave the product code empty, the invoice uses the generic 01010101; enter the right one.
  8. Click Save.

You can also create an item without leaving a document with Shift+A; it's added as a line. Complete it in its record later.

Why: as in SAP B1, Inventory item can't be turned off while the item has stock or open orders, and batches or serial numbers can't be switched while it has stock.

Stock and levels per warehouse

The Inventory tab shows, per warehouse, stock, committed, ordered and available (Available = In stock − Committed + Ordered), with the average cost. There you set each warehouse's Minimum, Reorder point and Maximum; the purchase suggestions use them and the record warns when a warehouse is low. Stock isn't typed by hand: documents move it.

The item's price on each list

The Prices tab has one row per price list:

  1. Type the price on each list you sell it on. Leave it empty to remove it.
  2. If a presentation has its own price (the box cheaper than 12 pieces), click Price for another unit and choose the unit.
  3. The Margin column compares each price with the average cost (in local currency).

Create a price list

  1. Go to Inventory › Price lists and click New.
  2. Type the Code, Name and Currency.
  3. If the list comes from another one, choose the Base price list and the Factor. For example, Wholesale based on Retail with factor 0.9: an item without its own Wholesale price costs 90% of its Retail price.
  4. Save.

Each customer has its list on its record. Anything without a list uses the Default price list in Administration › Parameters › Sales. That's also where you decide whether the user's list wins over the partner's.

For quantity discounts, special prices per customer or promotions, use Discounts and promotions.

With an ERP connected

If your company works with SAP Business One or NetSuite, items, prices and lists come down from the ERP. Make the changes in the ERP (see Connect Nori to your ERP).

If you don't see…

  • The item at the point of sale or in a sales document: check it's Active and marked Sales item, and that it has a price on the customer's list.
  • The Mexico (SAT) tab: it only appears for companies with the Mexican localization.
  • The New button: your role can't create items.
  • A price: if the list has no price for the item and no base list, the line stays at zero, and it can't be sold at zero unless Allow selling at zero price is on in Administration › Parameters › Sales.
