Accounting in Nori: how it works

What Nori's accounting does, which entry each document posts and where each screen of the module is.

How to turn accounting on and choose your chart

Turn accounting on, choose the Mexico or the International chart of accounts, set the start of the fiscal year and the month you start keeping the books in Nori.

How to add accounts and subaccounts to the chart

Add a subaccount under a title, convert an account into a title, move it, mark it as a cash or bank account, and export or import the chart as CSV.

How to set up G/L account determination

Decide which account each concept posts to (sales, customers, cost, inventory, VAT, cash, payroll) and override it by warehouse, item group, partner group, payment form or tax code.

How to enter opening balances and opening stock

Load the stock you start with against opening balances (not as income) and enter the balances of banks, customers, suppliers and other accounts with an opening entry.

How to enter a manual journal entry

Enter an entry with its debits and credits, balance it, post it, review it as T-accounts and reverse it if you made a mistake.

How to use journal vouchers

Group several journal entries in a batch, let someone review them and post them all together; if one fails, none goes in.

How to use cost centers

Turn on up to five dimensions, set up their cost centers with validity dates, use them in your journal entries and filter the trial balance and income statement by center.

Trial balance, income statement and balance sheet

Run the trial balance, income statement, balance sheet, general journal, subsidiary ledgers and cash flow, filter by period, branch or cost center, and drill down from an amount to the document.

How to close a posting period

Lock or close a month so nobody posts with that date, let the cash register keep selling while you close, and see who changed each period.

How to create fiscal year 2027

Open the next fiscal year with its twelve periods before the current one ends, so sales and the point of sale keep posting on January 1.

How to close the fiscal year

Bring the revenue, cost and expense accounts to zero with the closing entry in period 13, and reopen the year if something needs fixing.

How to register a fixed asset

Register your trucks, computers and furniture, capitalize them from the supplier invoice, by hand or with their opening balance, and check their book value.

How to use recurring postings

Enter the rent, fees or an amortization entry once and Nori posts it every month, week or every N days, or leaves it as a draft for someone to confirm.

How to run the month's depreciation

Review the preview by asset, post the month's entry, catch up late months and let Nori run it on its own every month.

How to run the month-end exchange revaluation

Value what is open in dollars or another currency at the closing rate and take the difference to unrealized exchange gain or loss, reversed the next day.

How to sell, retire or transfer a fixed asset

Sell an asset with its invoice or by entering the amount, retire it, or move it to another branch, cost center or person in charge.

How to load a budget

Create the year's scenario, enter each account by month or fill it with an annual amount, last year's actuals or from Excel, and decide whether Nori warns you when you go over.

How to read budget vs actual

Compare each account's month and year to date against its budget, find in red where you went over and open the entries that explain it.
