How to create a report in the report builder
Run your company's reports with their parameters and create your own with a read-only SQL query, the visual builder or a description for the AI.

On this page
The report builder gathers your company's reports. You'll find it under Reports › Report builder, in the Analysis section of the menu. Active reports also show in the menu under Reports › Saved reports.
Run a report
- In Reports › Report builder, search the report by name or filter by type.
- Click Run.
- Fill in the Parameters: a period, a customer, a warehouse… If a parameter isn't required, leave it empty to include everything.
- Choose how to see it:
- View: on the same screen.
- Print.
- Excel.
The Examples group has ready-made reports: sales by period and sales rep, receivables aging, stock valued by warehouse and best-selling items. Use them as they are or duplicate them to change them.
If you migrated from Nori desktop, your user reports are in the list too, with type User.
Create a report
You need the Create and edit SQL reports permission.
- In Reports › Report builder, click New report.
- Type the Name and, if you want, the Menu group it's grouped under in the list. Click Create.
- Data and SQL opens with a sample query. Write yours in one of these ways:
- In the SQL tab, typing the query. Next to it are the Tables: click a table or field to insert it; View data shows the first 50 rows of a table.
- In the Visual builder tab, picking the Main table, Related tables, Fields, Filters and order. Then click Send to editor and test.
- With Describe with AI: type what you want, for example "sales by customer in the period, invoices only, total in pesos, highest first", and click Write query. Review the query before Use this query.
- Click Test to see the first rows.
- Click Save or Save and design.
If you don't know which table holds a piece of data, open the Data dictionary: it explains each table and field and how they join.
Why: in SAP Business One your own reports are built with saved queries and Crystal Reports. In Nori the query, its parameters and its print design live in the same report.
Parameters
Under Parameters, click Add parameter and set its Name, Label, Type (text, number, date, period, business partner, item, warehouse, branch, sales rep or list), Default and whether it's Required.
In the query, use the parameter with a colon: :cliente. A period is read as :periodo_desde and :periodo_hasta. If the parameter can be empty, write it with its type:
(:cliente::bigint IS NULL OR d.business_partner_id = :cliente::bigint)
Who runs it
Under Who runs it, check the roles that can run it. With no roles checked, anyone with the View reports permission can run it.
How it prints
Under Layout, Generate table layout builds a table with headers on every page and totals for the numeric columns. Group by adds groups with subtotals. Then fine-tune it in the designer with Design. See How to edit a print layout.
Bring a query from Nori desktop
Convert from SQL Server translates a Nori desktop query to Nori web's database. @parameters become :parameters. Review the points it flags before using it.
Limits
- Only one
SELECTorWITHstatement. Nori rejects anything that writes or deletes data. - Tables of users, passwords, certificates and settings can't be read.
- Each query has 15 seconds and reads at most 5,000 rows.
If you don't see…
- New report: your role lacks the Create and edit SQL reports permission.
- A report in the list or menu: it's inactive, or its Who runs it doesn't include your role. Check Show inactive to find it.
- "The query took longer than 15 seconds": filter by a shorter period or add parameters.
- "The report was limited to the first 5,000 rows": adjust the parameters to bring fewer.
- "Reading … isn't allowed": that table belongs to the system. Look for the data in another table of the dictionary.
- An error when testing with an empty parameter: write the parameter with its type, as in the example above.
